We decided to take a short trip to a couple of our favorite places in California (and to get away from the heat forecast in So CA). Yesterday, we were in Yosemite National Park. It has always been one of the places that we value as most beautiful. The rivers and water falls are full this late in summer due to heavy winter snows and the late snow melt.
The only down side was that there was a fire on the upper Glacier Point Road which filled the valley with smoke and obscured the view of Half Dome. There was also a problem with parking due to the massive number of people visiting. Many on bicycles and walking, also. We were able to find parking at most places and walked the trails to Bridal Veil Falls (.5 mile) and Lower Yosemite Falls (1 mile). We also found a picnic area that wasn’t crowded, with a nice view. A great day spent enjoying the beauty AND people watching.
