Montserrat, Spain

Wednesday, we left Sitges early in the morning; dropped our luggage at our hotel in Barcelona and took metro, train and “rack railway” to the mountain monastery and cathedral of Montserrat. Very beautiful scenery and heard a boys choir in the Basilica. Very touristy and took 3 hours round trip. We think Sitges is a better day trip from Barcelona.

Our hotel in Barcelona is an old Palace, Palacete and very quaint. The room is the smallest we’ve had so far and no view, but elegant. Should make the ship cabin look big!! Supposed to be rain Thursday, so not sure what we will do during day. At 4 p.m. we are having a pre-Meet and Greet with Cruise Critics; maybe 70 people for drinks at the “Black Sheep” tavern.

Today is Thursday, so decided to add more before publishing. Today we went shopping for wine and liquor at a big Supermerkat. Met some more Cruise Critic people at our hotel. Then at 3:45 p.m., we walked in the rain to the Continental Hotel; a little soaked. Met some more CC “friends”; about 35 showed up, somenew and some from before and all gathered at L’Ovella Negra (black sheep) for drinks and snacks. A lot of fun. Then back to our hotel for our free dinner. Been talking with a lot of people and some are a lot of fun. Also got to see Jim and Diane again from our Hawaii Cruise.
