Friday, we got on the ship. It was an easy checkin and loading; on the ship by 11:00 a.m. Also, they do allow you to buy at Duty Free, AFTER the security check, so we were able to get 2 bottles on. We have a balcony on the 9th deck and it is nicely decorated (and bigger than the last hotel room!). The Carnival Magic is really beautiful and they had added some nice features, such as the Serenity Lounge on Deck 15 and more hot tubs. Our first port was Palma in Mallorca. We took a city bus and then a long distance bus to Soller. Coastal and mountain views, some blurred by rain, but still picturesque. Our good friends, from the Spirit, 1.5 years ago, Jim and Diane joined us along with a few other CC’rs. We also road a tram (rather like the San Francisco cable cars) from Soller to the Port of Soller, also expensive like those, $11 USD for 2!
Today, we are at sea. The ship officers informed us last night that there is a change in our intinerary due to a technical problem. The “stern thruster on one side, side propeller which moves the ship sideways is malfunctioning. They assure us that this will not be a problem in the next 2 ports or in crossing the Atlantic. Hope they are right. Anyway, instead of Grand Turk, we sill stop in Freeport, Bahamas and stay 2 days (an overnighter) for that repair. Wonder what that will be like??
Today, we helped judge door decorations and assisted with a large Meet and Greet for CC of over 200 people. It was a lot of fun. I even won a door prize.
Tomorrow we are docking at Malaga. Jim and I are the coordinators of a walking tour. We made up a map and route with details for a group of 35 or more. Jim will probably not do the whole walk and we have borrowed walkie talkies (didn’t bring ours) so if I walk further, we can meet up later. It’s supposed to be a beautiful old city and full sunshine tomorrow.
The connection right now is “Very Low”, so probably can’t put the pix on, will try later.
We are both healthy and hope the same for everyone who reads this. More later. Cheryl
