Hello from the Carnival Legend, in the Atlantic Ocean between US mainland and Bermuda, going 13 knots. Not sure why that slow, but supposed to be on schedule for Kings Wharf, Bermuda on Thursday. It’s been pretty smooth sailing and the weather is nice. In Nassau, our first stop, yesterday, it was the most comfortable that we have ever experienced, maybe 80 degrees and not terribly humid with a breeze. Since we have been there several times, we just walked around, visited a pharmacy and found a recommended local cafe for conch fritters and chowder; and of course the local beer: Sands and Kalik, both good.
We have been enjoying getting to know our Cruise Critic (CCrs) contacts. (Jina, there are 4 from Nebraska!) We all met on the back of the ship on the first day and most of us attended a Meet and Greet cocktail party the next day. There are 5 that we know from other cruises, Serge and Mary were on 2 of the long ocean cruises we did: TA in 2011 on the Magic and TP to Australia on the Spirit last year. We’ve been eating dinner with Neil and Shirley who we got to know on the Magic. Many activities are planned. Today we started the LCR (Left, Center, Right) tradition. 14 participated and some were suspicious, because Jim set it up and he ended up winning! Most of the time he was without money! It is a lot of fun. A Cabin crawl is in 5 days
Yesterday, was our 37th Anniversary. We had a great day and many people gave us congratulations. Coincidentally, Serge and Mary were married on the 10th (today), 37 years ago!! We shared gifts with each other and the cruise director gave both couples champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, PLUS a gold plated plastic ship on a stick!! If you have done Carnival cruises you will understand the humor of this! Last night we went to the Steakhouse (you pay $35 extra per person and the service and presentation is more deluxe). Neil and Shirley joined us (they have been married 39 years). The meal was wonderful! Great show last night with the band, singers and dancers. We are so glad that the Showband has 10 musicians, all great!
Well, we have 24 more days on the Legend, can’t believe we won’t have to pack or move until then. Hope that Spring is finally coming to everyone back home! Cheryl
