Heat, humidity and Aussie friends

We are still in So CA; very hot days with higher than usual humidity (monsoonal conditions), but no rain. It feels like Texas or Florida, where we grew up. Some areas have gotten a little rain, but not where we are. Would love to see some!!
Only problem is that the storms also bring lightning, such as in Yosemite area and Washington state where fires were started. We watch daily for smoke, since all the vegetation is very dry.
We’ve been at home since July 4; Jim is getting antsy!!

We did have a small trip, last Sunday through Tuesday. A couple that we met on our 2012 Cruise to Australia, (they are Aussies), Janine and Marty came to our area for a few days. We met them at an LAX hotel on Sunday and took them on a site-seeing trip for a couple of days. It included Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and other Orange county spots and then to San Diego for one night. In San Diego we visited Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma, Old Town, Presidio Park and the Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island. Also they experienced some new foods: chile rellenos, chili dogs, fritos and corn nuts (only the nutritious stuff!). We ended with a wonderful Happy Hour at the Harborside on Newport Harbor.

We took them back to their hotel in LA and on Wednesday and Thursday, they did the LA touristy thing on a HOHO bus (Hop on Hop Off). Now they are in Florida with other cruising friends that we met on same cruise and will take a Panama cruise and cruise back home.

  1. Thanks for showing Marty and Janine around in CA. We had planned to be in LA when they arrived but had to cancel our trip. They had a great time with you guys. We enjoyed showing them around the Orlando area and cruising through the Panama Canal with them.
